In the last 10 years, we have undertaken two major refurbisment/extension projects to north London Victorian terraced houses. Both were completed on time, on budget and to the highest standard, thanks to Tatham & Gallagher's attention to detail, efficiency and good organisation. They worked really well with our architect in each case, translating his ideas into reality with an eye for good design. Gary and Tosh are a pleasure to work with, and the same applies to all of the subcontractors - always professional and courteous. Wherever small problems occurred, they were rectified with a minimum of fuss. I would recommend T&G every time
From the very beginning Tatham and Gallagher were extremely trustworthy, efficient and overall, a delight to work with. The whole team were incredibly professional, accommodating and helpful, from the individual craftsmen and builders, to their fantastic foreman and to the company’s owners - always going that little bit further and making that little extra effort that went way beyond the expected. For us, as clients, it meant that we could relax having full confidence that we could leave that aspect of the project in their extremely capable hands.
It was not an easy or quick project. We had our Victorian house renovated top to bottom, a project that lasted 9 months. It had a number of unexpected issues along the way, as one would expect from a project of that magnitude, and they dealt with each and every one of these issues in a way that really showed the extent of their knowledge, expertise and professionalism.
They delivered the house to an incredibly high standard whilst keeping us in the loop at all stages of the project.
We were really happy we chose Tatham & Gallagher for our extension and loft conversion project. They were professional, knowledgable and helpful from the very first meeting to discuss our drawings. We’ve never done a project like this and it was incredibly helpful to have the benefit of their experience on the multitude of decisions that are required, even though we had a full set of architect’s drawings. They guided us and kept us on track through all the selection and sourcing from doors and glazing to kitchens and paint colours, with very practical advice along the way. The team were considerate, thoroughly diligent and a pleasure to be around. The quality of the finish is impeccable. Thoroughly recommended!
Tatham and Gallagher are a rare find…builders who create a fantastic result and are delightful to work with. They have converted our loft, built a separate studio in the garden and refurbished two bathrooms. They communicate well, stick to their quote and timeline and tidy up after themselves. They have loyal employees and sub contractors who operate at a high standard always respecting that they are working in your home
Thank you very much for the excellent work that you and your team did on completely rebuilding our house from the ground up. I appreciated that working in a very tight and confined space in central London is not easy, and you did an excellent job keeping good relations with all our neighbours. So we were pleased to hear that you have now been selected to do a very similar job for our next door neighbours, after a personal recommendation for us.
On a project of this size there were always unexpected events, but you were great on keeping us informed either through site visits, e-mails with photos, or phone calls of the issues. You often came up with practical solutions with our architect and structural engineer to overcome any specific issue, in order to keep the project on track. I always appreciated the regular and early site visits which allowed us to get to work afterwards. On a project of this length it is always important have an open and strong working dialogue, and you were brilliant at giving us plenty of lead time to ensure that we had sufficient time to make the relevant choices required. It is amazing how many decisions need to be made on a project of this size, and having the time definitely reduce our stress.
We are very pleased with the end result, with a great finish to all the interior decoration. A special thank you must go to your joiner who was able to interpret our bespoke design ideas and create some fantastic wardrobes, cupboards and book cases, as well as the absolutely stunning central staircase which loads of our friends have been blown away by. It was definitely worth all the hard effort.

After buying an old house in need of total renovation Gary, Tosh and the team took on and managed the project from start to finish - from sitting down with us to discuss initial ideas, designs and organising the building control through to the building work itself, decoration and adding the finishing touches. With regular updates, I always felt fully informed and confident that all our ideas were being incorporated. Gary and Tosh are experts in their field - there doesn't seem to be anything that they don't know! Their team of builders and suppliers were all very knowledgeable, courteous and so tidy! The work, which included completely changing the structure of the house and adding an extension was completed in record time. I can't thank Gary, Tosh and their team enough.
We have worked consistently with Tatham and Gallagher since 2008 , when they successfully completed our first project. They have since worked on the majority of our projects and we have been fortunate to work with the same team of labourers and electrical and plumbing subcontractors, which is always reassuring. Our clients prefer a tried and tested contractor and our relationship with Tatham and Gallagher has been consistently good. Their time management and their site- and post-completion service are very good - they do get back in touch quickly if there are any problems. Their approach is proactive, including proposing solutions to site issues for discussion to keep the project moving forward.
